Spain U-21 England U-21 1 -1

DANNY WELBECK saved England with an 88th-minute equaliser.

It came after the Ander God looked to have condemned Stuart Pearce's Young Lions to a controversial defeat.
Ander Herrera put Spain in front with a first-half goal that had more than a suspicion of handball about it.
But to their credit, Psycho's cubs, despite being on the back foot for most of the night, never chucked in the towel.

And their determination was rewarded when Manchester United striker Welbeck turned in Kyle Walker's defence-splitting pass to earn a barely merited point.
Make no mistake, while England grabbed a draw, Spain earned the plaudits with their superior football.
Luis Milla's young matadors would have won by a comfortable margin had complacency not set in among their attackers and had England keeper Frank Fielding and his dogged defenders not stood firm under pressure.

While a draw is a welcome result, it cannot mask the deficiencies of English football, which were once again highlighted at an international tournament for the world to see. It was uncomfortable viewing for any Englishman - and a certain interested Italian would not have been too impressed either.
Quite what Fabio Capello thought, sitting alongside Sir Trevor Brooking and a sprinkling of FA bigwigs in the VIP seats at the MCH Arena in Herning, is anybody's guess.
England's senior boss refused to comment before or afterwards, though what could he have said?
As international performances go, this was almost as bad as anything his full squad churned out in South Africa last summer - even if Pearce's men showed distinctly more pride.

Manchester City join the race to sign former United striker Rossi

BARCELONA and JUVENTUS head the queue of clubs keen to land the Villarreal star, 24, (left) but the Eastlands big spenders are now in the frame. Hotline understands City will offer around £18million – but the Spaniards rate Rossi at around £30m and will stick to their guns.
However, City would be willing to add first-team fringe players into the equation in a bid to try and push a deal through.

Barcelona remains Rossi’s first choice although they are also unwilling to go above £18m.
Juve are believed to be ready to spend higher than Barca or City, but the Italian side cannot offer Champions League football.SPURS were keen in January but have been priced out of a move.
Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha is ready to snub a £6m switch to Sunderland to battle for his place at City.

He spent last season on loan at the Black Cats and Steve Bruce wants to him permanently. But Onuoha, 24, has told pals he wants to try and win over Roberto Mancini. A product of City’s Academy, Onuoha (right) made his debut at 17 but injuries have hampered his progress.

His decision to stay is a brave one with Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta and the suspended Kolo Toure already competing for his defensive positions.

Arsenal star to stay at the Emirates

Arsene Wenger is confident Samir Nasri will STAY at Arsenal.
The Arsenal boss will hold talks with Nasri and his representatives this week in a bid to persuade the French international to sign a new deal. Nasri has one year left on his contract and talks have so far stalled.

Manchester United are keen on Nasri but Wenger believes he can convince the £15million signing from Marseille that his future lies at the Emirates.

But Wenger has given up hope of keeping Cesc Fabregas out of the clutches of Barcelona this summer.
He has acknowledged the one club he cannot compete with for his 24-year-old captain are the Champions League winners and, if they offer about £40million then Fabregas will go.
Other departures could be Gael Clichy to Liverpool, Nicklas Bendtner and Brazilian midfielder Denilson.
The latter could be used as a makeweight to secure either Willian da Silva or Douglas Costa from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.
Both impressed when Shakhtar beat the Gunners 2-1 in Donetsk in a Champions League group match.

Wenger also wants to bring in Christopher Samba from Blackburn for
£10m to add muscle and power to his central defence and is also set to make a
£15m bid for Aston Villa’s Stewart Downing.
The England winger has made no secret of his ambition to play in the Champions League, which is unlikely to be realised if he stays at Villa Park.
But Abou Diaby is likely to miss the start of the season. The France midfielder will undergo surgery next week to cure a persistent ankle problem that bothered him in the second half of last season.

Vidic NOT leaving Man United, insists agent

Nemanja Vidic's agent has dismissed talk of the Manchester United captain leaving Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old Serbia defender has been linked with a move away from England - Juventus the latest club reportedly interested - despite being a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson's side and having three years left on his contract.
However, his agent Silvano Martina has rejected any talk of a summer exit.

He told Radio Sportiva: "He's a player that everyone wants.
I talked to him about a hypothetical transfer and he replied, 'I am the captain of Manchester United, earning well, I've won almost everything... Why should I go to Italy right now, when Italian football is going through a turbulent period?'

"This response removes any doubt about where his future lies - he stays where he is."
Vidic joined United from Spartak Moscow in January 2006 and signed a fresh four-year contract last August. He lifted the Barclays Premier League trophy last month - an English record 19th league title - and led the Red Devils to the Champions League final.

England stars party too much

ROBIN VAN PERSIE has slammed English stars who are more interested in partying than football.

Arsenal's Dutch striker is shocked by the behaviour of some Premier League aces.
Van Persie, 27, said: "When I see some English footballers who are out until three in the morning, then I can only conclude that they are invariably finished at 33.

"For me it's very important to be having breakfast every morning with my two children.

"And that wouldn't be possible if you were hanging about in a discotheque all night.

"I have made another choice and that's to be doing what I love the most, playing football."

Sneijder snub for Utd 'n Blues

WESLEY SNEIJDER insists he will not leave Inter Milan to join Chelsea or Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder has been linked with summer moves to the Premier League. But he claims he is happy at the San Siro and is not interested in leaving Milan.
Sneijder said: "There is a family atmosphere at Inter and there are all the ingredients to aim high.
"Milan is marvellous, picturesque and full of elegance. I love it.
"At the moment I am very happy here and I don't see why I should leave."

The 27-year-old playmaker joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2009. He helped the Nerazzurri win the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in his first season in Milan. Injuries hindered the former Ajax star this term though and he scored just four goals scored in 25 league appearances.
Sneijder is under contract with Inter until June 2015.

Cesc is the right fit for Barca

Spanish sources claim Barca have offered £25m plus striker Bojan Krkic and midfielder Thiago in part-exchange for the Arsenal captain. Iniesta and sidekick Xavi form a deadly central partnership that has been the platform for Barca's triumph in both La Liga and the Champions League. But he has no fear of Fabregas joining the party.

Iniesta said: "I do not believe the possible arrival of Cesc will affect Xavi and me. I think all three of us can play in the same 11.
"It remains a matter between Barca and Arsenal. But we want Cesc to play with us. He will make us a better team, not only in Spain but also in Europe.
"It is logical that Barcelona are looking at new players, because it's always necessary to improve the squad and win even more trophies."

Iniesta, who scored Spain's World Cup-winning goal against Holland last summer, is also hopeful coach Pep Guardiola will remain at the club long-term. Guardiola signed a contract in February which ties him to the Catalan giants until the end of next season. But Iniesta is keen for him to stay on well beyond that.
He added: "Coaching continuity is the key to guaranteed success.
"Guardiola is key to this team. He is essential.
"I hope next year will not be his last.
"We all feel that with him things become that much easier."
